The global offshore wind power market exceeds 121 GW
Renewable UK released new data at the 2019 Global Maritime Wind Power Conference in London, revealing that the global portfolio of offshore wind energy projects under operation, construction or development has increased from less than 105 GW to more than 121 GW in the past 12 months.

Europe remains the largest single area for offshore wind power, accounting for 66% of global pipeline projects. Europe is dominated by the UK, which has a cumulative capacity of more than 38.4 gigawatts for offshore wind power projects at different stages of development, an increase of 9% over the past 12 months.
The world's new offshore wind power installed by 2030 is expected to reach 200 GW
This week, the Global Wind Energy Council released a global report on offshore wind power. Since 2013, offshore wind power has not only increased by an average of 21% per year, but is expected to add 200 GW by 2030.
The Global Wind Energy Council predicts that Asia's offshore wind power market will become the world's largest offshore wind power region by 2030, thanks to the growth of major markets such as Taiwan, Vietnam, Japan, India and South Korea. By 2030, the total installed capacity under the BAU scenario in Asia will be 100 GW.
Renewable energy power generation in the United States is growing rapidly and coal use is at a record low
According to foreign media reports, the latest data from the U.S. Energy Information Agency (EIA) show that renewable energy generation in the United States surpasses coal generation for the first time. In April this year, the country's total output of hydro, solar and wind power reached 68.5 million megawatt-hours, while that of coal generated 60 million megawatt-hours.
Coal has fallen out of favor, partly because of lower gas costs. In 2016, natural gas replaced coal as the preferred fuel in the United States, thanks in part to the booming shale gas industry.
