The Swedish Pellets Market Increased To 1.8 Million Tons In 2017

In 2017, demand for wood particles in Swedish households, thermal power plants and industry is up nearly 2 percent from the year before.A total of 1.8 million tons of pellets are used, equivalent to about 8.5TWh of energy.That is up from the previous three years, but still 400, 000 tons less than the 2.2 million tons in 2011.


Sweden's domestic pellets output rose for the fifth consecutive year, to 1.74 million tons, almost to a record 1.8 million tons in 2010.Imports remained the same, about 270,000 tonnes, while exports fell by about 12 per cent to 200,000 tonnes.


Overall, Swedish pellets use increased by nearly 2 per cent or more than 30,000 tonnes in 2017 compared with 2016.
