Silicon carbide crucibles are generally made of carbon bonded silicon and graphite materials.

Silicon carbide crucibles are suitable for smelting and melting precious metals, base metals and other metals in an induction furnace.

They are used at a temperature reaching 1600 degree celsius.
The silicon carbide crucible offers a uniform and consistent temperature when melting and has a high strength and resistance to cracking.

ANALYSIS OF COMMON PROBLEMS IN CRUCIBLE

 

Description of problem
Analysis of causes
1. Transversal crack
1).Close to the bottom of the crucible
(possibly causing the bottom will fall off).
1).It may be caused by a hard object impact, such as throwing the ingot into a crucible or using a hard object such as an iron bartohit the bottom. In addition thermal expansion can cause
such damage.
2).About half of the crucible.
2).The reason may be that the crucible is placed on the slag or on the unsuitable crucible base. When the crucible is taken out , if the position of the crucible clamp is too much up and the force is too hard so it will cause cracks on the crucible surface of the lower part of the.
3).A transverse crack is found in the lower part of the spouted crucible series.
3).The crucible was not instaled corecty . in the instalation of the new crucible, if he refractony soilis tighty squeezed under the crucible nozzle during the use of the crucible cooling shrinkage will make the force point concentrated in the crucible mouth, resulting in cracks.
2. Longitudinal crack
1).After the crucible was used for a long time, longitucinal cracks appeared in the crucible wall, and the crucible wall at the crack was thinner.
1).When the crucible is about to reach or has reached its service life it can not bear too much extermal foce.
2).Crucible for initial use (or near new)
cracked on the lower edge and penetrated
through the bottom of the crucible.

by the phenomenon of glaze peeling.

top edge of the crucible.

the top edge of the crucible is also easy to cause this damage.
Unsuitable crucible camp or tapping on the upper edge can also cause stiffening and obvious damage to the top edge of the crucible.
4).Longitudinal crack on the side of the
crucible (the crack does not extend to the
top or bottom of the crucible).
4).Usually caused by internal pressure. For example, the cooled wedge casting material is placed transversely in the crucible and the damage is caused when the wedge casting material is heated and expanded.
